HOME / Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use this website. This statement sets out what we have done, where we know we fall short, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.

Our commitment

Presidency College (Autonomous) wants every visitor — prospective students, current students, parents, staff and the wider public — to be able to read this website and complete what they came to do, whatever device they use and however they navigate.

We treat accessibility as part of building the site, not as a later correction, and we aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

What we have done

  • Pages are built with meaningful HTML structure — headings in order, lists as lists, landmarks for the header, main content and footer — so screen readers can navigate them.
  • All interactive elements can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, and the focused element is visible.
  • Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Text and background colours are chosen for contrast, and text is never presented as an image.
  • Layouts reflow for small screens and for zoom up to 200% without loss of content.
  • Links are written to make sense out of context, and links that open a new tab or a PDF say so.
  • Motion is limited to short, subtle transitions, and nothing on the site flashes or auto-plays audio.

Known limitations

We are aware of the following, and are working on them:

  • Many documents on this site are PDFs supplied to us as scans or as exports from other systems. Some are not tagged for screen readers and some cannot be searched as text. If you need the content of any document in an accessible format, ask us and we will provide it.
  • Embedded third-party content — such as the Google Map on the contact page — is outside our control and may not meet the same standard as the rest of the site.
  • Some older photographs and scanned certificates are low resolution and may not stay sharp when magnified.

Using your browser and device

Your browser and operating system can help regardless of what we do: text size and zoom, high-contrast and dark modes, reduced-motion settings, built-in reader modes, and screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and TalkBack. This site is built to respect those settings rather than override them.

Tell us about a barrier

If any part of this website stops you from finding information or completing a task, please tell us — it helps us fix the right things. Say which page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what went wrong.

Email contact@presidency.edu.in or call 080-42478700 (extensions 111 / 130). We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within five working days, and to provide the information you need in another format meanwhile.

Reviewing this statement

We review this statement when the site changes substantially, and at least once a year. The date below shows when it was last revised.
